Upcoming Redmi Note 9T runs Geekbench, has some specs and images outed

It’s hardly surprising that Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi is working on yet another mid-range smartphone. But it is. What’s perhaps more surprising is that unlike the main Mi brand, Redmi doesn’t seem capable of counting past 9, at least for the global market.

Its next smartphone is going to be the Redmi Note 9T – see, no 10 in sight. This will be a new member of the already incredibly crowded and confusing Redmi Note 9 line – quick, off the top of your head, name the differences between the Redmi Note 9Redmi Note 9SRedmi Note 9 ProRedmi Note 9 4GRedmi Note 9 5GRedmi Note 9 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. See? We told you it’s confusing.

Anyway, all those shenanigans aside, the Redmi Note 9T is allegedly pictured in the images you can see above, and it’s apparently going to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset. A prototype ran Geekbench 5 today, having 4GB of RAM, Android 10 on board (sad!), and achieved a single-core score of 598 and a multi-core score of 1,760.

Although the benchmark listing uses the device’s model number, as you can see, thanks to its NBTC certification from earlier this month, we know that the M2007J22G is actually the Redmi Note 9T. The “G” at the end also tells us that it’s not a China-only model, although which exact markets will get it is still a mystery.

Since 2020 is literally almost done, we’re going to play it safe and assume the Redmi Note 9T is going to become official sometime in early 2021.
